What is Redis? · Redis
Ch 2 · Redis Introduction and Setup — card 1 of 4.
Get started with Redis: understand in-memory data storage and basic commands. Because Redis keeps its data in RAM, reads and writes are extremely fast, which is why it is popular for caching and sessions. You will learn how keys map to values, how SET and GET store and fetch a string, and how EX makes a key expire automatically.
- Understand Redis as an in-memory store
- Connect to Redis
- Use basic SET/GET commands
Redis is an in-memory key-value data store used for caching, sessions, and real-time data.
Redis stores data in memory for ultra-fast access. Keys are strings. Values can be strings, lists, sets, hashes, and more. Data can have TTL (time-to-live) for automatic expiration.
- In-memory: sub-millisecond reads
- Key-value pairs
- SET/GET for strings
- EX sets expiration in seconds
